Jadon Sancho ‘underlines’ return position as club ‘willing’ to pay £85m for Manchester United ace

Manchester United are heading into the summer transfer window needing to decide on the future of several players.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set for his first window of control at Old Trafford, with INEOS still set to complete their review of the club and decide the future of manager Erik ten Hag. Departures are expected following announcements that Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will both leave the club when their contracts expire.

Other high-profile names could follow, too Manchester Evening News understands all but four players have been made available for transfers elsewhere. Andre Onana, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are the only members of the squad United will not entertain offers for in what could turn out to be a summer of transfer activity at Old Trafford.

Two players who could leave are Brazilian midfielder Casemiro and Jadon Sancho, on loan from Borussia Dortmund. Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr have indicated they are willing to pay up to £85m (€100m) for Casemiro.

This comes after news of Cristiano Ronaldo asking his club to try and capture his former Real Madrid teammate. The Brazilian’s form dipped last season and is therefore being linked with a summer exit.

Casemiro arrived on an initial deal of £60m over five years in 2022, aged 30 at the time. After an impressive first season, the five-time Champions League winner has shown a drop in performance and has been forced to play at centre-back in the last six league games amid a spate of injuries.
