Manchester United have completed their Arsenal move as Bruno Fernandes ‘holds’ talks

A lot is happening behind the scenes at Manchester United this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and ineos look to implement changes in their first off-season with the club.

After what has been a disappointing season in the Premier League, there is a review of the current season. It means there is uncertainty over Erik ten Hag’s future despite the Dutchman delivering a second trophy for the club in two years.

United ended the season on a high by beating rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley Stadium to lift the FA Cup. That win will also see them play in the Europa League in the new season.

United make Arsenal move

Manchester United have strengthened their medical department with the appointment of Arsenal’s head physio Jordan Reece, according to Workout Guru. Reece has spent the last 12 years at Arsenal, with the last four as head doctor.

He is now said to have succeeded former boss Gary O’Driscoll, who took over as head of sports medicine at Old Trafford last September. Reece’s appointment will replace former chief medical officer Robin Sadler, who left United in February.

MENsport says: The reshuffle of the medical staff at Old Trafford may be one of a number of changes brought in by Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the coming weeks and months. It comes after a season in which the first team was hit by injuries.

Those issues likely accelerated change in the medical department, with the team making moves to bring in new people.

Bayern ‘in talks’ for Fernandes

Portuguese outlet OJogo claim Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have made their move for United midfielder Bruno Fernandes ahead of the summer transfer window. The report says the club have “initiated contact” with the player’s agent Miguel Pinho.

It is also claimed that Barcelona have expressed a “deep interest” in a possible move and “could open an avenue for negotiation”. Fernandes has two years left on his current deal at Old Trafford.

MENsport says: Fernandes spoke about his future several times in the closing stages of the season. But the lure of Champions League football as well as competition at the top of the league will be a concern for United fans if interest from Bayern or Barcelona becomes more serious.

The midfielder has two years left on his contract, meaning United could still demand a big fee if he reaches that stage. In an ideal world, whoever is in charge will build their squad around Fernandes to achieve both the players’ and clubs’ goals of playing in the Champions League again.
