Local pub becomes ‘first pub with drinks’ after huge investment and refurbishment

A Solihull pub has become one of the first Nest Pubs after a £285,000 investment from Greene King. Nest Pubs is a brand new franchise concept and The Highwood is the second to open.

This means the pub will pride itself on being a premier drinking pub, offering great value, a great customer experience plus regular sports and entertainment. It will show all the major live sporting events on Sky Sports and TNT Sports, plus they will regularly have live music, karaoke and pub quizzes.

Highwood will be run by Paul Shakespeare and Hayley Towner, serving up pizzas for the pub hungry, with flavors and toppings including Chicken & BBQ, Salami, Hot and Spicy to Margherita.

The pub will be serving its own cask of ‘Avenue 56’ as well as a range of other beers including one of Greene King’s latest craft beers, Hazy Day. It will also serve a wide range of international, craft and international beers, including popular lagers.

As part of Greene King’s £285,000 investment, Highwood has been transformed with new decorations, fittings and fixtures, a new bar, new seating and more. The signage and presentation of the pub, as well as the beer garden, have also been modernized so that it can be used all year round, but especially enjoyed in the summer.
