Wigan Warriors rise after red-hot Adam Keighran

After Adam Keighran’s dismissal against Warrington Wolves last Saturday, Wigan Warriors have now received the fourth highest number of bookings in Super League this season.

Australian center Keighran’s dismissal was the second red card shown to a Warriors player in 2024, following Liam Byrne’s early dip in the Good Friday defeat at St Helens.

When you add in the five yellow cards received by Matt Peet’s side in their first 12 Super League games in 2024, their tally rises to seven.

With most other clubs having played a game more and been booked less, it’s an easy way to underline just how ill-disciplined the Cherry & Whites have come into play this year, one of the more disciplined teams in recent years, Peet’s Guardianship.

Wigan Warriors move up the Super League table after Adam Keighran struck against Warrington Wolves

When Huddersfield Giants winger Elliot Wallis was given his marching orders in Round 10 as they were beaten at home by Salford Red Devils, dismissed for an alleged header, it meant more than half of the Super League clubs they saw a player sent off in the match. league at least once this season.

Now, after 13 rounds, only five clubs are yet to receive a red card in 2024, including Leigh Leopards and Leeds Rhinos.

Only one team has yet to receive a yellow card, namely Castleford Tigers. However, the Tigers are one of four clubs to have already received 2+ red cards, sitting on two alongside Wigan & Saints.

Hull FC remain the only 12 clubs in the top flight to receive three red cards in Super League action this year, although they managed that ‘performance’ in Round 2!

Having also been shown eight yellow cards to date, it is Hull who top the card table on 11.
