Police shut down illegal rave near Sheffield beauty centre

Police in Sheffield were called to break up an illegal rave at the weekend after around 60 people gathered for the ‘unlicensed’ event.

Officers were called at 12.16pm on Saturday June 1 following reports that a number of people were beginning to gather in an area near Ringinglow Road.




Other calls came in as more people began to arrive, and about 30 people had gathered at the scene by 12:47 p.m.

Officers moved quickly to establish the location of what was believed to be a planned rave and to prevent further access to the area. At 2.45 an order to leave was given for approximately 60 people who were present at that time.

The rave organizers agreed to leave and the venue was fully cleared by 4.10am, the force said.

Detective Superintendent Nicola Leach, who oversaw the response, said: “Previous events of this nature have understandably caused concern among the local community.
