Now the Championship trio have been mentioned in reports of wide interest in Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo.

According to Swedish news outlet FotbollDirekt, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City and Middlesbrough are all interested in the versatile 25-year-old. They are not the only ones interested, though the Elfsborg star claims he is also on the radar of Luton City, NEC Nijmegen, Ludogorets, Ferencvaros and Maccabi Haifa.

Baidoo can play in any role in the middle of the park, but mainly plays in attacking or defensive midfield. He has even been deployed as a striker this year after scoring four goals and three assists in 12 Allsvenskan outings.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Is the championship waiting?

After catching the eye in Sweden’s top flight this season, Baidoo could very well earn a high-profile move to English football, with a number of Championship clubs keen.

It could be a tempting challenge for the midfielder as well. Since coming through the Vision FC set-up in Ghana, the in-demand midfielder has spent his entire career in Scandinavia.

Baidoo played in Denmark with FC Midtjylland and Norwegian duo Jerv and Sandnes Ulf before moving to Sweden with Elfsborg.

His deal expires in 2025, so it could be a good time to sell. That could make him an attractive option for Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City or Middlesbrough, although Elfsborg are still unwilling to let him go on the cheap with a price tag of €3m to €4m set (around 2.5 and £3.4 million). ).

Looking further

Many Championship clubs are looking to recruit domestically, but more and more are looking abroad where possible.

It can open the doors to smart deals for lesser-known players who are ready to make the leap into one of the most competitive leagues in the world. Baidoo could fit into this category, making a name for itself in Scandinavia.

Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City and Middlesbrough have all the facilities to do so, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Championship trio brought in some left-field names such as Baidoo.

However, with a decent price set and widespread interest in his services, time will tell if a switch to English will be for the versatile midfielder.
