Newcastle have discussed internally the signing of an “ambitious” player from Leeds, alongside Jarrod Bowen

Newcastle United have held internal talks about signing a Leeds United star alongside West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen and a La Liga talent ahead of the summer transfer window.

Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has already made it clear that the club will need to sell players this summer to help with the credit card bill the 49ers inherited from Andrea Radrizzani’s takeover.

Crysencio Summerville is likely to be sold, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Fulham, Bournemouth and West Ham keen, while Crystal Palace could sign him to replace Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze.

Summerville had 31 goals and assists and won the Championship Player of the Season award and the 49ers are demanding a fee of between £35m and £40m to land the ‘ambitious’ winger dutch.

Now The Athletic offer a report that says Newcastle are also interested in Summerville as they look to bring in a winger. He is one of three players Eddie Howe’s men have on their shortlist this summer.

Summerville on Newcastle’s three-man shortlist this summer

Indeed, the report states that Newcastle have actually discussed a move for Summerville in-house ahead of a possible move this summer. Toon walk a tightrope in terms of their own financial fair play.

They will have to sell players as well as buy them, but there is a place in the side available for a player like Summerville, albeit on the right. Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes are excellent options on the left.

Athletic say Newcastle are not the only ones after Summerville, with West Ham’s Bowen also on the radar, as well as Athletic Bilbao and Spain star Nico Williams, but Summerville is likely to be the cheaper option.

Which club is best for Summerville ahead of a crucial summer?

Summerville is looking increasingly likely to leave Leeds and move to a Premier League club this summer. Liverpool and Chelsea are closely linked, but the competition at both is enormous.

He would struggle to start at Anfield or Stamford Bridge, so Summerville must choose wisely. Fulham would be a solid move if Willian leaves Craven Cottage, while West Ham could need him if Bowen leaves.

Similarly at Palace if Olise or Eze go with Premier League clubs chasing the £60m duo. But Newcastle could be the best club he could join, which could allow Summerville to secure a starting spot next season.
