More than a million passengers came into Birmingham Airport last month – where were they going?

It handled 1,175,998 during the month, with 4,014 departures and 3,945 arrivals.

The month spanned two busy bank holiday weekends.

The most popular destinations in May were Dublin, Palma and Amsterdam.

Construction work on the new airport security area continues with queuing for security, mainly on the ground floor.

Additional staff from across the company were recruited into the terminal on the busiest days to assist passengers.

During the half-term break, between May 24 and June 2, around 221,500 customers departed the airport, a 15% increase on the same period last year.

As well as long queues, some customers traveling through Birmingham Airport last month also faced problems parking their cars after parking provider Blue Circle suspended operations.
