Two arrested in investigation into Soho Road knife seizure

Two men have been arrested after a victim was threatened with a knife on one of Birmingham’s busiest streets. The man said he was held up by attackers armed with a Stanley knife in Soho Road, Handsworth, at around 6.30pm on Monday 3 June.

The victim claimed the same two men also stole her phone and jewelery in an attack on Saturday 1 June. A special agent arrested two men, aged 31 and 35, on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place, robbery, threats to kill and possession of drugs.



West Midlands Police said: “We have two men in custody on Tuesday on suspicion of robbery after they were arrested by one of our special officers in Handsworth on Monday night. We were called to Soho Road just after 6.30pm where a man had been threatened with a Stanley knife.

“He also reported that the same men attacked him on Saturday and stole his phone and jewellery. The suspects were arrested by a special duty officer with one of our response teams. The pair, aged 35 and 31, remain in custody for questioning on suspicion of having a knife in a public place, robbery, making death threats and drug possession.

“Reducing robbery crime is a priority and we are running Operation Ruby to catch those involved. It’s also Volunteers’ Week and we’re celebrating the amazing people who give up their time to make Birmingham a safer place to live, work and visit.
