Wigan Warriors have made the decision to appeal the bans of Adam Keighran and Tyler Dupree, with both men initially serving three-match bans and set to miss the Challenge Cup final.

Australian center Adam Keighran was expected to be suspended after he was sent off for an overhead kick on Warrington Wolves youngster Arron Lindop. Keighran was sent off and Wigan were able to hang on for victory, running out 19-18 winners over the Wire.

News of his ban was confirmed at the Match Review Panel yesterday and the Wigan Warriors man was handed a Grade D charge and a three-game ban as well as a £250 fine. That meant he had to miss the Challenge Cup final against Warrington on Saturday and it has now been confirmed that will be the case with Wigan Warriors not appealing against Keighran’s ban.

Wigan also saw Tyler Dupree suspended, with the striker handed a D-grade charge which carried a three-game ban and a £250 fine for a headbutt. Dupree was seen turning his head towards former Wigan man Sam Powell while in the tackle but the incident was missed by the match officials.

It was not missed by the Match Review Panel who slapped him with a three-game ban and he too will miss Saturday’s Wembley clash after Wigan Warriors decided not to appeal the ban.

As such, Matt Peet will now be without two of his most influential players, with Wigan not having a clear replacement at centre-back in youngster Zach Eckersley or utility man Ryan Hampshire. Dupree may be more easily replaced given how many forwards the club boasts, but his injection of power off the bench will certainly be missed.

Apart from the two bans for Dupree and Keighran, there was just one more and it came for Sheffield Eagles’ Matty Marsh, who was handed a two-match ban. He also did not appeal, meaning he would miss the 1895 Cup Final, scheduled to be played immediately after the Men’s Challenge Cup Final.

Wigan Warriors saw prostitute Brad O’Neill cited for a late hit on Josh Drinkwater, but escaped with only an A-grade charge and the good news that he is available for Saturday’s Wembley clash against Warrington Wolves.
