Man accused of carrying a gun after trouble broke out in Edgbaston

A man has been charged with carrying a weapon after trouble broke out on a city street. Police closed City Road in Edgbaston after tempers flared following a car crash on Thursday, May 30.

Amar Ali, 23, of Birmingham, was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate. He was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Monday, June 3. A statement from Birmingham Police said: “We have charged a man with firearms offenses following a disorderly incident in Edgbaston.



“Amar Ali, 23, from Birmingham, was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court for an initial hearing. He was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and also possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

“Disorder ensues in City Road, Birmingham, on the evening of May 30.”
