Leeds United midfielder Ilia Gruev is on the radar of Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund, who will cost more than the £5m the Whites paid for him last summer.

Leeds’ summer window is likely to be far less chaotic than the previous one for the 49ers and Daniel Farke, looking for a straightforward period of squad improvement.

Still, exits are expected after missing out on promotion, and there’s sure to be some upheaval in store for that.

Borussia Dortmund want Ilia Gruev from Leeds

A report from Sky Germany has revealed that Leeds midfielder Ilia Gruev is on the radar of Bundesliga giants and Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund.

The German outfit could return to the league they signed from Leeds, just under a year after joining from Werder Bremen for £5million, one of Leeds’ latest signings of the summer of 2023.

Are you happy that Red Bull have invested in Leeds?

Based on these claims, Deichstube now report that Leeds are expected to be able to get more than they paid for the Bulgaria international if they were to sell to Dortmund.

Werder Bremen are owed a sales percentage of whatever Leeds get, but a profit from that £5m fee would also be inevitable for the 49ers.

Leeds could make a tidy profit on Dortmund’s Gruev

If Leeds gets a fee worth it here, it shouldn’t be dismissed and rejected by the 49ers.

As good as Gruev can be for us and how he’s set up, he can certainly be traded for less than what we’re getting.

That money could go a long way in FFP terms and should be seriously considered.

With Dortmund being a massive club, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that they’ll overpay to make us cash.
