Wigan Warriors make Adam Keighran and Tyler Dupree decisions ahead of Challenge Cup final

Adam Keighran and Tyler Dupree will miss the Challenge Cup final after Wigan Warriors decided against an appeal against charges laid by the Match Review Commission. The two players were given Grade D charges by the Match Review Panel, which came with three-match bans.

The Warriors had the right to appeal and take the cases to a tribunal today. However, Rugby League Live understands the club have decided against that option, meaning the two players will miss Saturday’s Wembley clash with Warrington Wolves.

Keighran was shown a red card in Wigan’s Super League win against the Wire on Saturday and charged with head contact. Head coach Matt Peet revealed he apologized to Keighran for his post-match comments after reviewing the tackle in detail.

Meanwhile, Dupree was suspended for a headbutt that was not penalized during the game, but cited retroactively. As well as missing Saturday’s final, they will also be unavailable for Super League games against Castleford Tigers and London Broncos.

It’s a blow for Wigan, who will now be without two players who have collectively missed just three games all season. Both played in the World Club Challenge win over Penrith Panthers and the Challenge Cup win over Hull KR.

It also ensures that Dupree will not be able to complete a unique achievement. England’s bounce-back has won three trophies in 24 appearances since a mid-season move last year and could have secured a full 25-game haul if Wigan had won on Saturday.
