Police statement as the Wakefield bus driver narrowly avoided the crash, but several passengers were injured

Several bus passengers were injured and one was taken to hospital with serious injuries in Wakefield.

Police were called to Ings Road, Wakefield, at 9.35am to a report from the ambulance service that a number of people had been injured on a bus after the driver was forced to brake suddenly.




A passenger on the bus was taken to hospital with serious injuries. From investigations at the scene, it is understood that another unidentified vehicle was involved.

There are currently road closures following the incident in the Kirkgate area of ​​the city and motorists are being urged to seek alternative routes.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any part of this incident. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “It is understood there may have been passengers on the bus who left before police attended and are also being urged to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police via Live Chat online or by calling 101, quoting log 446 of June 4.”
