Manchester United appoint Toby Craig in another personnel change at INEOS

The Daily Mail reported that “Ex-Chelsea and Manchester City Toby Craig is to become Old Trafford’s new director of communications”. The former director of communications and public affairs at Chelsea and Manchester City will focus more on football communication than marketing communication at Manchester United. Toby Craig previously worked with incoming United CEO Omer Berrarda at Manchester City, who will start working at United in July after his gardening leave ends. Toby Craig will replace Head of Comms Ellie Norman, who is leaving United after 19 months.

The internal audit at United has continued since Sir Jim Ratcliffe took a minority stake in Manchester United. Since his takeover, various key figures have been shuffled. Toby Craig joined the club after Manchester United managed to land CEO Omer Berrarda, who will start in July, and technical director Jason Wilcox. Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth is also expected to officially join the club soon.

Manchester United clearly emphasized the sporting aspect of the club, which had long seemed neglected under the Glazers. Since INEOS’ arrival at Manchester United, key figures including Richard Arnold and John Murtough have left the club. For a long time, the Old Trafford faithful have expressed their displeasure and displeasure with the way the club’s footballing operations have been run, but the new owners have made it clear otherwise, which is a good sign to begin with.
