Diego Llorente is closing in on a new loan move to Roma from Leeds

Diego Llorente is set to stay at Roma, with the capital club convinced of the player’s importance in Daniele De Rossi’s plans for next season.

The Spanish defender recently completed his second successive loan in the Italian capital after originally joining Roma in January 2023.

A year and a half later, Llorente is in talks to renew his loan at the club.

The Giallorossi are said to be hugely impressed with Llorente’s adaptability and his recent performances under De Rossi – who has deployed him at full-back on several occasions – have prompted the board to continue negotiations with Leeds over a new loan deal.

Conformable La Gazzetta dello Sportextending Llorente’s stay is one of the priorities of Roma director Florent Ghisolfi.

Ghisolfi is expected to negotiate a new deal for Llorente.

With Llorente’s contract at Leeds United expiring in 2026 and the English side having failed to gain promotion to the Premier League, Roma could choose to extend the player’s loan without necessarily activating the purchase option in his deal.

Otherwise, Roma could agree to pay the €5m price tag set by Leeds for the 30-year-old defender.
