Everton face stiff competition for Sheffield United youngster: worth the fight?

In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey noted that Everton are facing stiff competition for Sheffield United youngster Daniel Jebbison this summer. It has been claimed that the Toffees should rival Leeds United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Ipswich Town and Leicester City in the race to land the Canadian striker later this year.

Jebbison came through the youth ranks at Sheffield United and did well to break into their first team. The 20-year-old has already made 35 senior appearances for the Blades so far, scoring three goals and securing an assist in as many competitions.

Canadian Wizkid has at times caught the eye with his performances at Bramall Lane and is currently one of the best young players in his homeland. So it makes sense for the Toffees to pursue someone of his potential this summer.

Jebbison’s current contract at Sheffield United will run out at the end of this month, which could open the door for Everton to sign him on a free transfer this summer.

Jebbison can find space for himself to score some shots on goal. Can be a good finisher in the final third when playing well up the pitch. However, the English talent is still quite raw and needs to find a way to be more consistent with his scoring in front of goal.

Jebbison has very little experience of Premier League football, so Everton will need to be patient with his development if they are to unlock the best of the talented striker at Goodison Park in the long term.

Jebbison will undoubtedly add to the quality of the Merseyside club’s squad. He could even help the Toffees compete on all fronts in the coming years. He would therefore be worth fighting for as long as Everton are prepared to give him a regular run of games to prove his worth in Premier League football next season.

At 20, the Canadian forward’s ceiling is quite high, making him a worthy target for the Toffees to consider this summer.
