Life on the road arrives

Are you dying to get your first look at Ricky Gervais’ David Brent spin-off? I can make that dream come true, AKA, for you.

The first two posters for ‘David Brent: Life on the Road’ have been released by eOne, showing former boss Wernham Hogg as he prepares to embark on his new career as a touring musician with Foregone Conclusion.

Although the film is only a distant relative of “The Office” — the comedy’s co-writer Stephan Merchant is not involved in the film — the poster wrote one of Brent’s most iconic quotes for his tagline: “I’m a friend. first, boss second. Probably a third animator.”

Last year, Martin Freeman, who played Tim Canterbury in the series, confirmed that neither he, Mackenzie Crook or Lucy Davis had been asked to reprise their roles for the film.

“I don’t know about that and I think that’s for good reason because I haven’t been asked,” he told The Sun.

“I wish him luck. I think Ricky is brilliant as David Brent, but they’re not going to bring us back.”

Along with the new poster is an official synopsis: “12 years ago, David Brent (Ricky Gervais) was a regional manager for a mid-level paper merchant. On August 19, 2016, you receive ready to see him on the big screen as he pursues fame and fortune in DAVID BRENT: LIFE ON THE ROAD. Now working as a representative selling cleaning (and ladies’ personal care) products up and down the country, Brent hasn’t given up on his dream of becoming a rock star – or more specifically, singer/songwriter for the rock band Foregone Conclusion”.

“As he assembles a group of mercenary session musicians, a gifted street cred follower and an overpriced but underdog tour manager, he embarks on a self-funded UK tour that hits a venue near every city important near you.”

Expect the first trailer soon.
