Manchester United transfer news live Erik ten Hag sacking decision latest quota and next manager

Manchester United have yet to make a decision on Erik ten Hag’s future at the club as Ineos’ end-of-season review continues.

The Ineos Group began its review last week and its outcome is set to decide the Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford. The Dutchman oversaw an eighth-placed finish in 2023/24, marking the club’s lowest ever finish in the Premier League era, but salvaged the campaign somewhat by winning the FA Cup.

However, almost two weeks on from their victory over Manchester City at Wembley, United are yet to make a decision, meaning they risk affecting the club’s summer transfer plans. The transfer window officially opens on June 14.

United intend to make the most of this summer’s window, with Ineos keen to make much-needed changes. Sales could reach double digits and a new intake is expected.

United continue to be linked with a host of names including Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise. Also, speculation continues to surround Bruno Fernandes and his future.

Complication of the Ten Hag contract

Will there be a decision on Erik ten Hag’s future today? It’s been 10 days since the FA Cup final and the club is still in limbo.

One potential issue that could cause a delay is Ten Hag’s contract situation. If they decide to stick with him, then they really need to offer him a new contract. Entering the final year of his three-year contract would essentially leave him on trial, which has been the case since Ineos came on board.

There is also the complication that Ineos’ chosen sporting director, Dan Ashworth, remains on gardening leave. He will have his say on Ten Hag’s future. Chief executive Omar Berrada doesn’t start until July 13.
