3 Beverly charged with cocaine, fentanyl drug trafficking: Police

BEVERLY, MA — Three men face drug trafficking charges after Beverly police say an investigation into narcotics sales in the city’s Broadway section led to the seizure of nearly 100 grams of fentanyl and 14 grams of cocaine on Monday in the evening.

Police said Francis Alberto Carmona-Lara, 29, of Lawrence was charged with trafficking in fentanyl, distribution of cocaine, refusing to produce identification and was arrested on an outstanding warrant, Juan Suarez -Lara, 38, of Lawrence was charged with trafficking in fentanyl, distribution of cocaine. , refusing to identify, operating a motor vehicle without a license and was found to have three outstanding warrants and Paul Farrar, 50, of Beverly was charged with trafficking in fentanyl.

Police said a Honda CRV was seen parked next to a dumpster in a Broadway parking lot and officers saw a man leave the building adjacent to the lot, get into the back seat of the car, then leave the car and walk back toward the block.

Police said they recovered “a bag containing approximately 68 grams of fentanyl from the male, identified as Farrar, who had exited the vehicle.” Police said the two men in the SUV both provided fake Dominican Republic driver’s licenses and were properly identified during the booking process.

Police said 98 grams of fentanyl and 14 grams of cocaine were seized, along with $2,300 in cash.

Both men in the car were to be arraigned in Salem District Court.

Beverly Police Chief John LeLacheur also revealed during Monday night’s City Council meeting that a police car broke down en route to assisting at the scene as the city sought a transfer of funds to purchase two new emergency response vehicles.
