Manchester City is suing the Premier League

Manchester City is suing the Premier League over changes to its financial rules.

Manchester City are seeking arbitration over rules on associated party transactions introduced in 2021 and tightened in February, which according to Sky News “are intended to ensure a level playing field among the elite teams in English football by preventing clubs from sign commercial contracts at inflated prices. thereby allowing them to spend even greater sums on players”.

The rules state that all sponsorship offers must be made at a fair market price. Manchester City claim this is in conflict with competition law.
