Family-run Luscombe Motors sells 5,000th new MG from Leeds showroom – Car Dealer Magazine

Family-run Luscombe Motors is celebrating after its MG site in Leeds sold its 5,000th new car.

Luscombe MG Leeds opened its doors for the first time in 2020, but its early days have been marred by the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic and national lockdowns.

Since then the business has grown tremendously and is now recognized as one of the best MG retailers in the country.

The site was even chosen as the first car dealer in the world to present the new MG Cybersterin September.

On achieving 5,000 new MG sales, Sales Director Sam Luscombe said: “Selling those new cars in such a relatively short space of time is a real achievement and a real testament to both a great team and product desired.

“It would be an important moment for any dealer, but to reach 5,000 new units despite having to deal with setbacks, including several lockdowns caused by the coronavirus in the first two years of trading, is something we we can be proud.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved in reaching this milestone, including staff and customers, and I look forward to celebrating the next 5,000 and beyond!”

The milestone marks yet another success for the Luscombe’s who saw it turnover almost doubles to almost £72m in the most recent set of accounts.

Company founder Robin Luscombe previously won the award Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 Car Dealers Used Car Awards.

Speaking about the company’s beginnings in 2010, Luscombe told the car dealer: “Thirteen years ago, I quit a really good job, making good money, and my wife was brave enough to put it all on the line and bet that i could sell cars.

“She bet everything on me and I made it. It was quite a brave move and this is a recognition (Lifetime Achievement Award) that I never, ever expected.’
