Huge new City Center North regeneration project planned for Coventry city centre

A huge new regeneration project is planned for Coventry. Dubbed the “City North Centre”, it would cover an area next to the city’s transport museum.

New homes, public spaces and transport links are part of early plans for the site. The project is being promoted by Coventry Council as an opportunity for a “strategic investor” to work in partnership with them.

Their work would lead to a “significant increase in housing”, in the centre, according to the council’s website. While the project is in the “concept” stage, some details of the council’s goals are outlined in a description on its website.

The scheme would be mixed use, meaning it would involve both residential and other spaces. It would include ‘access hubs’ which extend VLR Coventry links and make it easier to use public transport to get into the city.

The council also aims to “encourage new communities in the city centre”, it adds. “The way some people choose to live is changing, so we want to support this by delivering environments including new co-living centres, subscription homes, creative studios and live-work spaces, as well as new houses and apartments “, it’s said.
