ITV Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter sparks outrage after dissing co-star

Loose Women regular Janet Street-Porter sparked a bit of fury among ITV viewers after she cheekily lashed out at her co-star Denise Welch during Tuesday’s episode. The panel, which included Brenda Edwards and host Christine Lampard, was embroiled in a heated debate about whether parents should be boosting their children for exam success when Janet couldn’t resist boasting 11 ‘O’ levels .

Former Coronation Street actress Denise told of her own school days: “When I was doing my ‘O’ Levels mum and dad could have given me the world and I’d still be down the drain to go be with my boyfriend. it was terrible in terms of revision and studying and it just wasn’t for me.”

After revealing that she had achieved five “O” levels, Janet retorted: “That’s it?”, prompting Denise to admit that she had to retake Needlework, according to OK!

Janet, always one to stir the pot, was careful to point out that one of Denise’s five ‘O’ levels was in Needlework, followed by a giggle. Denise quickly responded with, “And we’re all on the same show, thank you very much!”. Despite Denise taking on Janet passionately, fans watching from home weren’t too thrilled with Janet’s snarky banter with her co-star, the Mirror reports.

One viewer voiced her support for Denise, commenting: “I have to say I was upset with JSP bragging about how many O’Levels he has achieved and disparaging Denise for achieving 5 O’Levels and one being for work with a needle. How disgusting. Who does she think she is? I was impressed by Denise’s responses to JSP’s digs.” Another viewer agreed, remarking: “Janet is so rude.”

The tension between the two was also palpable early in the program, particularly during a segment discussing infidelity. Both women shared their own stories of infidelity, explaining why they feel they can’t judge others too harshly.

Denise reflected on her past perspective, saying, “In the old days, I wouldn’t be, no. If I were in that situation, I wouldn’t judge someone if they cheated. I always believe that there are no excuses for things, but there are reasons for things.”
