Liverpool have confirmed the release of TEN players when their contracts expire at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara head the departures as senior first-team stars.

Both have struggled with injury throughout the campaign, with Matip’s season cut short in December when he suffered an ACL injury against Fulham.

Although Jurgen Klopp had hoped the club would offer the 32-year-old a new deal, he was instead sent off on the final day of the Premier League season at Anfield.

Inacio update

Although the links stretch far and wide, respected Liverpool journalist David Lynch claims that Goncalo Inacio is not, in fact, on the list of potential arrivals for the Reds.

Instead, he claims Liverpool’s name was added to the mix to generate interest in the centre-back.

That’s not to say Liverpool under Arne Slot won’t be on the lookout for a centre-back, but a move for Portuguese Primeira Liga winner Inacio seems unlikely at this stage.

However, the emergence of Jarell Quansah over the course of last season may well have lessened the urgency in that area.

Liverpool have officially confirmed a contract offer made to one of their players. The Reds announcement came with their retained list.

Liverpool have revealed their retained list for the 2024/25 season, with a number of players leaving the club. The two most important are Joel Matip and Thiago, of course, their departures announced last month.

But a name that is not goalkeeper Adrian is on the list. The Spaniard’s contract expires this summer, with Liverpool expected to release him.

Andy Robertson plans to be at Liverpool to usher in a “new era” under Arne Slot, quashing any reports he could leave for Bayern Munich this summer.

The 30-year-old is under contract until 2026 but was linked with a move to Bavaria earlier this year.

Bayern look set to lose Alphonso Davies either this summer or next year on a free with Real Madrid interested, and the club’s hierarchy have reportedly identified Robertson as the ideal replacement.

However, the Scotland captain has played down those links, insisting he is looking forward to the new challenge after an injury-plagued season.
