Leeds crash: Man arrested after elderly woman seriously injured

A man has been arrested after an elderly woman was seriously injured in a suspected hit-and-run accident in Leeds.

The 79-year-old pedestrian was hit by a gray Volkswagen T-Cross at 4.50pm BST on Monday in Harehills, West Yorkshire Police said.

The vehicle then left Foundry Approach “at speed” and was later found abandoned on Harehills Park Road.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday night on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene and possession of cannabis.
