Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus are interested in the Manchester City defender – a move to the Premier League has also been mooted

Manchester City and Brazil international right-back Yan Couto is likely to be on the move again this summer with high-level interest from across Europe.

The 21-year-old is expected to face a dilemma over his long-term future at Manchester City this summer, entering the transfer market following a remarkable season on loan with fellow City Football Group side Girona.

Under coach Míchel’s guidance and direction, Couto was instrumental in Girona’s quest for a top-flight finish in the Spanish top flight, securing a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League despite the odds stacked against them.

But with that success comes significant transfer demand in the services, and coupled with a breakthrough in the Brazilian national team, Couto is expected to be one of the best potential assets available on the market.

The latest report has seen transfer interest from across the European competition, with Couto himself recently admitting that a decision on his Manchester City future has yet to be made.

The recently capped Brazil international could yet remain at Girona for next season following UEFA Champions League qualification, while the report also suggests unnamed Premier League clubs are keen.

Speaking during an interview earlier this year, Couto revealed that, along with input from his representatives, he had begun “target planning” for next season, beyond Manchester City’s expectations, and especially if he would feature in the pre- Pep Guardiola’s season.

“I talk a lot with my agents, we have to start planning the goals, I have a contract (at Manchester City) until 2026,” said Couto. “It’s a conversation we have a lot, what do they expect in the future. We’re talking, nothing has been decided yet, we’ll see if they go or not in the pre-season.”

He continued: “I don’t think I can say about the future yet, it’s still early, towards the end of the season. I’m focused on football, I leave it to my agents, I try to do my part and I think it’s been a very good season for me and for Girona.”
