West Brom woo Corberan with £1m investment amid Leicester

West Brom owner Shilen Patel has invested almost £1m in a new pitch at the club’s training ground, leaving manager Carlos Corberan ‘Pleased’according to Express & Star.

West Brom have been under the new ownership of Shilen Patel and Bilkul Football WBA since the end of February.

The reign of former owner Lai Guochuan was one fraught with disappointment and various financial controversies, so the takeover was greeted with great joy earlier this year.

This summer will bring Patel and company the first chance to back manager Carlos Corberan in the transfer market, but it appears a healthy investment has also been made on the training ground.

According to a report from the Express & Star, West Brom have spent almost £1 million on a new training ground. The investment, which has ‘Pleased’ the head of Corberan, means that the surface is of a similar level to that at The Hawthorns.

Corberan’s delight comes amid strong interest from Leicester City, who want the Spaniard to replace Enzo Maresca at the King Power Stadium.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Interest from Vulpi

West Brom ultimately have ambitions of returning to the Premier League under their new ownership and the hope will be that Corberan can lead them there.

This year they didn’t miss out, being beaten in the play-offs by the eventual winners at Wembley, Southampton.

However, interest from Leicester City threatens the Baggies’ desire to keep their popular Spanish boss. Corberan is a manager who can make it to the top and the Foxes could give him the chance to do so this summer.

However, it remains to be seen if and when they step up their rumored interest. Meanwhile, Corberan will continue to plan the new campaign at The Hawthorns.

A sign of things to come?

It is hoped that this notable £1m investment in the training ground is a sign of things to come from Patel. The team needs work this summer and hopefully some decent funds will be put into it.

With the new ground leaving Corberan delighted, it is hoped that this can help West Brom in their efforts to fend off interest in their manager as well.

It shows that the owners are serious about investing both on and off the pitch and will hopefully convince Corberan that he is better off staying with the Baggies.

Leicester City are in a difficult financial position and could be hit with a large points deduction, but the offer of Premier League football with former top-flight winners could be tempting for the Spaniard.
