Man found dead under Tavistock Viaduct

A man has been found dead under the Tavistock Viaduct, police have confirmed. Emergency services were called to the town in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, June 5) following reports of a man being unwell.

After arriving at the scene, a 60-year-old man was found at the base of the viaduct a short time later. A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed. Police are now carrying out inquiries to establish the man’s cause of death, but it is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 7.30am today due to concern for the welfare of a man in the Tavistock area. “The man was located at the base of Tavistock Viaduct a short time later.

“The 60-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.”
