Van de Ven has hardly put a foot wrong since arriving from Wolfsburg last summer and has shown maturity well beyond his years.

The 23-year-old has formed a formidable partnership at the back with Cristian Romero and looks set to be an indispensable part of the Spurs team for many years to come.

van de Ven had an impressive first season at Tottenham

The Dutchman was voted the club’s Player of the Season despite missing nearly three months of football through injury and has already built a reputation as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League.

There is undoubtedly more to come from van de Ven, who will now link up with the Netherlands squad ahead of the Euros.

Micky van de Ven is in awe of Tottenham fans

The defender admitted his first season in English football was a hugely memorable one and thanked Spurs fans for their support throughout the campaign.

Reflecting on his first year at the club, van de Ven told the club’s official website: β€œIt’s been an incredible season. I liked very much.

β€œI loved the Premier League, playing for our fans every game, they support us everywhere. Look at Sheffield United, Sheffield is away, it was the last game of the season and they are there. We all really appreciate that.

“For me, it was an incredible season. I’m very happy to play, very happy to be here and hopefully many more good things to come. Hopefully I can build off of that and as a team we can build off of that as well.”

Van de Ven made 29 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions last season, scoring three goals (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

There’s no limit to how good van de Ven can become, with the 23-year-old seemingly on his way to becoming the best in the world in his position.

Now that he is familiar with the Premier League and the Postecolgou system, I expect him to be even better next season.

Hopefully he can avoid any repeat of any hamstring issues next season and continue to form an impressive partnership with Cristian Romero at the back.
