Britain is set for “three months” of heatwaves with a “hotter than normal” summer.

Britain is set for THREE MONTHS of hot temperatures in a “warmer than average” summer, according to forecasts. The UK has received a further heatwave update as the sixth month of the year continues, with June, July and August set to see sweltering heat at times, according to reports.

Forecasters at NetWeather have suggested June, July and August will see above average temperatures. And July next month could see sweltering, sizzling temperatures, potentially 2C above the UK average for that time of year.

NetWeather said: “Overall, June-July-August temperatures are forecast to be warmer than the 1991-2020 long-term average during summer 2024.” It added: “July is forecast to be the warmest month, perhaps up to 2°C above average.”

Explaining its forecast, NetWeather’s long-range summer forecast for August claimed: “With the prevailing wind direction from the south-west or south, temperatures will be above average but not as much as in July, with in view of greater chances of unrest off the Atlantic, but still. 0.5C-1C above the 30-year average.

“Precipitation could equally be average or higher, but less likely to be below.” The Met Office forecast for June 20 to July 4 says: “Signals are weak for prevailing weather patterns over this period. Typical UK conditions are most likely, with a mix of weather types.

“All areas can be expected to see some spells of drier and sunnier weather, but there will also be showers or longer spells of rain at times. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above normal.” The BBC adds for June: “Generally it will remain fairly changeable across the UK as temperatures temporarily dip below average over the next few days.

“However, as June progresses, there is a chance that more summer-like conditions will develop.” He added: “In the next forecast, we will see if the rather summery outlook from early July continues.”
