Hull City target move for Coventry City manager Mark Robins

Hull City are looking for a new manager after the end of the season.

The club made the shock decision to part ways with Liam Rosenior earlier this week despite taking the bottom-of-the-table Tigers to the brink of the play-offs in his first full campaign at the helm.

However, as they just missed out on the top six on the final day, the club decided to part ways with the manager. It has since emerged that style of play was the Humberside outfit’s main motivation behind the decision.

A host of names have been linked with the new vacancy at the MKM Stadium and now a new target has emerged.

According to a report from Football Insider, Hull City are plotting a move for Coventry City boss Mark Robins. The 54-year-old is on the shortlist of potential replacements for Rosenior and contact will be made, it is said.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

An ambitious move?

Robins is more than seven years into his second spell as Coventry City manager. He led them back from League Two to the Championship and took them to the brink of promotion in the play-off final last season.

He is regularly praised for his work with the Sky Blues, and rightly so.

However, Coventry are in a similar position to Hull City. They are a play-off chasing side with Premier League ambitions and the Robins are absolutely essential to their future plans at the CBS Arena.

Losing him to a rival side fighting for the same goal will not be in the Sky Blues’ plans. It makes this rumored interest highly ambitious and despite the temptation of the MKM Stadium project, it could be very difficult to tempt Robins from his current post.

A change awaits

Rosenior has done an impressive job in his time at Hull City, taking the club to the brink of the play-offs.

The decision to fire him is one that many fans disagree with. However, the club’s hierarchy have opted for a change and given the reasons behind the exit, fans will expect the new boss to come in and play some eye-catching football.

If that doesn’t turn out to be the case, then many will question why Rosenior was removed in the first place. In reality, those questions are being asked anyway, so the replacement will have to deliver when they come.

Time will tell who takes the reins, but a move to take the Robins away from a Championship rival seems ambitious.
