Carers Care – Around Ealing

A number of special events will take place across the borough to celebrate National Carers Week (June 10-16).

The events are held to recognize the invaluable contribution carers make and to raise awareness of the support available to them.

Ealing Carers Center and Ealing Carers Partnership are hosting information sessions during Carers Week to find out more about the support available in the borough and take part in relaxing activities.

The sessions will host counseling booths and carers can even try their hand at Pilates and mindfulness. There will also be talks from Green Doctors on how to reduce your energy costs, as well as a talk from Ealing Council’s adult social care team about the support available for carers and a presentation from the prostate cancer charity, Orchid.

Other organizations who will be there to tell carers about the support available include Ealing-based charity Mind Food, which runs gardening sessions for people dealing with depression, anxiety or stress.

Carers can attend sessions on:

  • Tuesday 11th June – Sycamore Lodge, Acton W3 8PH. 10:00 – 15:00
  • Wednesday June 12 – Elm Lodge, Greenford UB6 9UG. 10:00 – 15:00

A free buffet lunch will be served.

Activities and support for carers of all ages are available throughout the year.

A carer is anyone who spends time (unpaid) looking after or helping a family member, friend or neighbor who, because of their health and care needs, would find it difficult to cope without that help. Children and young people who look after family members can also be carers.

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of care, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognize their value to families and communities across the UK. It also aims to raise awareness of the support available to carers and help them access it. This year’s theme is ‘Putting Carers on the Map’.
