Air ambulance lands after man ‘trapped’ on ship

A man had to be rescued after he became “trapped” at the bottom of a ship.

Emergency services were called to Cammell Laird in Birkenhead at around 9.10am on Thursday June 6. A report followed that a man had suffered a leg injury at the bottom of a ship on Cammell Laird.




Police, fire, air ambulance, search and rescue and ambulance service were called to the scene. A spokesman for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was a “deep rescue”.

The man was found “conscious and breathing” and trapped 30 meters below in a ship.

A fire service spokesman added: “The casualty was secured on a stretcher.”

They added: “Once recovered, the victim was handed over to the North West Ambulance Service to be taken to hospital. The crews left the scene at 10:21 a.m.”
