Leeds United have some tough decisions to make ahead of next season, with transfers and more overhauls expected under Daniel Farke.

Leeds have done a lot of maintenance in the summer of 2023 as a host of unsung players have left the club on loan, while several others are heading out of contract.

Key decisions will come this summer after losing in the playoffs, with several departures expected.

In terms of contracts, the 2025 expiry is something to consider if the club want to cash in on players before the offers run out.

Here, we look at every current Leeds player in the final 12 months of their contracts at Elland Road…

Junior Firpo

The most notable of the players out of contract in 2025 is left-back Junior Firpo, who has finally found consistency in the Leeds set-up this year.

Injured at the start of the season, he came to the fore late in the new year, where he became vital to Daniel Farke’s set-up, making eight assists in the build-up.

A £13m arrival from Barcelona in 2021, Leeds face a decision with Firpo to either cash in now that his stock has returned to solid levels, or agree a new contract to capitalize on his new form.

Kristoffer Klaesson

Since joining Valerenga’s Illan Meslier as back-up in the same window as Firpo, Kristoffer Klaesson has found opportunities hard to come by.

A debut came as a substitute against Wolves in March 2022, where he was impressive as Leeds held on for that brilliant win, but was out of the picture again in 22/23.

This season has seen him drop to third-choice following the arrival of Karl Darlow, but the Norwegian was given a chance alongside Firpo at the start of the calendar year due to injuries and suspensions, where he was barely tested keeping a clean sheet against Birmingham City.

With a solid amount of goalkeepers in the U21s and U18s, it seems unlikely that Klaesson will get a new deal.

Sonny Perkins

When he struck in the last minute of the FA Cup clash at Cardiff City in January 2023, many thought we had a new talent about to break out in Sonny Perkins.

However, Perkins had no opportunities beyond that, frozen out of Farke’s plans early on after his appointment and then sent to Oxford United for the first half of the season.

He was recalled by the U’s in their promotion run at Wembley, but because he had played for Leeds in August, the striker was unable to go out on loan again for a second time.

Compared to the hype surrounding Mateo Joseph, the pair appear to be on very different trajectories, one looking to be the long-term number nine solution at Elland Road, the other likely to leave in a year’s time.
