Kirkheaton is the latest to catch fire as seven brave crews battle the huge blaze in Huddersfield

A large fire has broken out in a Huddersfield street with more than ten fire engines.

A total of 12 fire engines were seen on School Lane in Kirkheaton as West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service battled to bring the blaze under control. Both ends of the school driveway were closed to allow firefighters to work.




According to the fire service, they were called to the scene at 12.33pm earlier this afternoon and crews from Huddersfield, Rastrick, Skelmanthorpe, Dewsbury, Mirfield, Featherstone and Otley attended. An aerial apparatus was also used.

No injuries were reported, although residents were asked to keep windows and doors closed due to heavy smoke.

A police van and an ambulance were also present. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “We are currently in attendance at the scene of a fire at a building on School Lane in the Kirkheaton area of ​​Huddersfield.


“We have multiple crews in attendance – there are currently no reports of injuries. Residents in the area are asked to keep their doors and windows closed due to the heavy amount of smoke in the air.”
