Trowbridge charity is preparing to sign a lease for new premises

A manager at a Trowbridge charity which helps those in need has said he has been overwhelmed with offers to find him a new home.

The charity Ruksak 45218 has managed to find new premises and hopes to sign a lease on Monday 10 June.

Ruksak is a not-for-profit organization that provides essential items for people in need in Wiltshire.

Trustees and volunteers were shocked to hear they had just two weeks to find a new warehouse and offices as their current premises were closing.

The charity had until Friday June 14 to vacate its offices and storage space at Bratton Place Business Center on the White Horse Business Park.

Ruksak 45218 administrator Richard Culverhouse immediately appealed for help to find a 4,000 sq ft warehouse and offices in Trowbridge to store their donated items.

He said: “We had a meeting of the trustees and volunteers last night where we explained where we are moving and what is involved.

“Unfortunately, I can’t tell you exactly where it is because the documents aren’t due to be signed until next Monday.

“The response to the Wiltshire Times online and social media article has been tremendous, with members of the public pledging support to help the charity move its headquarters next week.

“Further help is always welcome and can be reached through me at [email protected].

“Provided everything goes to plan on Monday then it will be a big announcement for the city.”

The news that Bratton Place Business Center has been decommissioned came as a “total shock” to the charity’s trustees and volunteers.

Mr Culverhouse said: “We were totally disappointed. The news has come out of the blue and will cause enormous concern to the professionals who depend on them to help those residents who need it most.”

Sarah Ramsey of Mayfield Asset and Property Management Ltd in London wrote to Ruksak 45218 for and on behalf of their client Trowbridge Park Ltd.

She said: “I regret to inform you that our client Trowbridge Park LTD will shortly be going into administration and as a result of this unforeseen circumstance I must formally notify you to terminate your license agreement to occupy the Bratton I like it.

“In accordance with the centre’s terms and conditions, the licensor/owner may terminate your license with a minimum of 2 weeks notice and as such please accept this email that your agreement will end on Friday 14th June 2024.

Unfortunately, our client is no longer able to maintain the costs of services in the building and will therefore be closing the premises during your holiday.”
