Former Leeds United midfielder predicts 2024/25 –

Former Leeds United midfielder Lee Sharpe believes his former club will secure promotion to the Premier League next season.

The Whites were hoping to return to the top flight at the first time of asking this season. They looked good value for that alone, especially when they briefly topped the table in March. However, a run of two wins from their last eight games saw them drop to third, where they had to settle for a play-off spot.

Daniel Farke’s side comfortably dispatched Norwich City in the semi-finals, setting up a delicious clash with Southampton at Wembley Stadium. In the end, Saints proved too far as Adam Armstrong’s solitary strike gave them a 1-0 win.

Leeds will now face another season of Championship football which could see a number of key stars leave Elland Road. Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto are expected to move on, while starlet Archie Gray is likely to attract plenty of interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Revenues are expected, although spending power may be limited due to the play-off failure. However, former player Lee Sharpe believes they will come back stronger. Speaking exclusively to Real EFL via Bet Bonus Code, he said:

“I think they have to take that gut feeling and take it with them and realize how they felt, both when they lost automatic promotion and when they lost the final at Wembley. As a team, that’s what we did at Man United when we lost the title to Leeds in the first year (1992) and we used that as ammunition to win it the next year and I think that’s exactly what Leeds did. will do next year.

“I think they are a strong, organized outfit and the fans have been absolutely incredible and I have absolutely no doubt they will be there and challenge for it again next season.”

Continuing, the former England international reiterated his belief that Leeds will earn promotion the second time he asked:

“Of course it will be very difficult with the three Premier League teams going down, Premier League players and more money in the coffers to go and strengthen. But I can certainly see Leeds looking and challenging for automatic promotion again next season.

“By hook or by crook next season I think they’ll be back and back in the Premier League.”

The writer’s vision

Next season has now become more important than this after their failure at Wembley. Leeds cannot afford to miss out on promotion next season and this again could have huge ramifications for years to come.

No disrespect to the relegating teams, but they are undoubtedly weaker than the ones going up and will keep them going even if they lose their key stars. They are still a big name and will be able to attract players that will make them even stronger. They have to be one of the favorites to win the championship.
