Why is Flambards Theme Park in Helston, Cornwall closing several popular rides?

“After many years of faithful service, we are sadly retiring a number of emotional rides,” the club said in a statement. “This includes the Thunderbolt, Sky Swinger, Sky Force and Hornet Rollercoaster, some of which will be leaving the site soon.”

They added that the decision was made with visitor safety in mind, which the park described as its “top priority”.

“This decision was not made lightly and we understand that these rides have been favorites for many of our guests over the years,” the statement said.

“However, the continued shortage of specialist parts has made maintenance increasingly difficult for these races, and the safety of our guests is and will always be our top priority.”

Meanwhile, the temporary closure starting June 10 will be due to park updates as the tourist season peaks in the summer. The park said prices were reduced to reflect reduced amenities at the facility. What’s more, they’ve promised pass-holding families a free Kart ride during their first visit in summer 2024.
