Raye plays a random gig at a train station in Croydon with a 6-piece band

Singer-songwriter RAYE today (Friday, June 7) released her long-awaited first original single from her debut album as an independent artist. But as a preview, the artist chose to perform it yesterday at a train station in Croydon, because why not?

Accompanied by six musicians, she took to the platform at Selhurst station to perform an extract from Part III of her new song. RAYE, who grew up in the area, shared the special moment on social media with a video titled “Genesis will be yours at midnight.”

And the fans reacted quickly. On Instagram, one user wrote: “This brought me to tears, so emotional!”

“Best promotion I’ve seen,” added another, while a third wrote: “If I was on that platform waiting for a train I’d be so late to wherever I’m going.”

A fourth said: “Amazing, I would definitely be late for work but I’m sure the boss wouldn’t mind when I told him why.”

Others reacted to the fact that Shellhurst station is right next door to the BRIT School, a performing and creative arts establishment. “Selhurst being literally outside the BRIT school is what makes this so perfect,” one person commented, with a second adding: “I just know every BRIT school student has been outside and stood on that platform “.

However, some people were disappointed that they couldn’t see the singer live. “I literally live around the corner from here, gutted I missed this,” one user despaired.
