Crysencio Summerville finally breaks his silence after Leeds play-off final defeat and drops potential future hint

Crysencio Summerville has broken his silence following Leeds United’s play-off final defeat almost two weeks ago.

The Whites were beaten 1-0 by Southampton at Wembley to send them to a second consecutive season of Championship football.

With the window not yet open for another seven days, it remains uncertain whether Summerville will be a Leeds player come August, with several Premier League sides interested.

Chairman Paraag Marathe has admitted that some key players will have to leave this summer following Leeds’ failure to win promotion, and Summerville certainly falls into that category.

After an outstanding individual season, he has been named as the most likely of Leeds’ big-name players to leave, with an asking price of £30m set by the 49ers.

Summerville leaves a potential clue about Leeds’ future

After seeing so many of his teammates leave last summer, it would have been easy for Summerville to try to make a move, especially when big money offers were rejected.

However, he instead opted to keep his head down and work hard, which ultimately led to POTS winning the championship. His stock is now extremely high.

Taking to Instagram earlier this afternoon, Summerville became the latest member of Daniel Farke’s side to post a message to supporters following such a disappointment.

Dan James and Ethan Ampadu were the latest earlier this week, both giving a hint of where their futures could be at the end of the season.

And while it may be hard to read too much into it at this stage, Summerville’s post has a very similar feel to it thanks to the mention that she’ll be back next season.

He said: “A difficult season, full of beautiful moments. Honored and grateful to be EFL Championship Player of the Year. Thank you, an award I would not have received without my colleagues.

“They helped me double my assists from last season and become the top scorer. Thank you for all the love and support. In the end, it was a disappointing end to the season and it still hurts, but we will come back stronger.”

What is Summerville’s position on an exit from Leeds

It’s been well documented how much interest there is in Summerville, but the mere mention of coming back stronger next season may just be a glimmer of hope that he could stick around.

It looks like Summerville won’t be looking to force an exit from Elland Road, but ultimately it could be out of their hands how it plays out.

Leeds need to sell a few players this summer and he is among those who could attract the most money to PSR.

It’s sure to be an interesting few weeks ahead, but frankly it’s hard to see him turning down interest in the Premier League for another year.
