Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver is gutted after quitting Britain

Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has shared a disappointing experience after swapping Britain for sunnier climes.

The actress, who is best known for her role as Eileen Grimshaw on Cove, recently landed her ‘dream’ job. Sue, 60, played Mother Superior in the stage production of the hit show Sister Act: The Musical for a spell earlier this year.

During an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine in March, Sue spoke about the role and what it means to her Corrie character. When asked if she would be returning to the pavement, Sue said: “Yes, absolutely. I have a few months of grace to do this job, then I’ll be back there.”

She finished Sister Act last month but doesn’t seem to be filming at the moment as Sue shared stunning photos on Instagram while on a trip abroad. And while her surroundings look serene, the actress took to social media on Friday to share her disappointment.

Speaking to the camera as she stood in the water, Sue said: ‘You know, sometimes I think the sea likes to show us who’s in charge, but it’s definitely not us. Because he just swallowed my flip-flops.”

Pointing into the distance, she added, “I’m out there somewhere,” before turning the camera to face her and letting out a huge sigh.
