‘Come back’ – Crysencio Summerville breaks Leeds United’s silence on future and play-off desperation

Star player Crysencio Summerville has broken his silence on Leeds United’s play-off desperation and promises the team will come back stronger next season. The Championship player of the season was involved in 28 goals last season and is expected to attract plenty of transfer interest this summer.

Summerville still has two years to run on his contract at Elland Road and has no escape clause attached to United’s second-tier status. That means any interested club will need to strike a deal that suits Paraag Marathe and the board for the 22-year-old to move on this summer.

The chairman has admitted that sales will be needed this summer in West Yorkshire and, as a cheap arrival in 2020, Summerville is one of those assets that would generate a huge return to boost the image of financial fair play. Taking to Instagram, the winger gave a nod to the future at Elland Road.

“Thank you all for the love and support,” he said. “In the end, it was a disappointing end to the season and it still hurts, but we’ll come back stronger.”

If, for whatever reason, Summerville stayed for another Championship campaign, Leeds would expect to see his transfer fee drop heavily in 2025 unless he signs a new contract. If the Dutchman is allowed to enter the final 12 months of his deal, Leeds could face lower bids due to pressure to sell before losing him on a free in 2026.
