A Wiltshire pedestrian dies following a crash involving two cars

A pedestrian from Wiltshire has died after a collision with two cars in North Dorset.

Dorset Police received a report at 7.46pm of a collision on the main A350 near the village of Compton Abbas involving a silver Audi TT Quattro, a gray BMW 218I and a pedestrian.

Emergency services attended and sadly the pedestrian – a 60-year-old man from Warminster, Wiltshire – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

A passenger in the Audi – a man in his 20s – was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries which were not believed to be serious.

Following inquiries, a 19-year-old man from Shaftesbury and a man in his 20s from Mere, Wiltshire, were arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

Road closures were put in place as emergency services responded to the incident and they remain in place while an examination of the collision scene is carried out.

Sergeant Mike Burt, from the Road Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died in this collision.

“We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of the collision and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dash-cam footage to contact us.

“I would also like to thank the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are absolutely necessary to enable a thorough examination of the collision site to be carried out.”
