Michael Mosley last seen on CCTV after ‘crossing the coast path’

New CCTV footage appears to show Michael Mosley crossing a Greek coastal path into a nearby town centre.

The 67-year-old TV doctor has been missing since he went hiking on the island of Symi on Wednesday. He left at around 1.30pm and his wife Dr Clare Bailey, 62, raised the alarm when he did not return by 7.30pm.

A massive search has been launched to locate the health guru amid fears he may have passed out or fallen off a cliff. However, pictures shared with our sister site Mirror Online appear to show the presenter outside the Blue Corner cafe on Pedi Beach 20 minutes after he left.

Surveillance footage was captured around the main road in Pedi at 1.50pm on Wednesday afternoon, about 20 minutes after he is believed to have been hiking along a coastal route. The CCTV was shared by local website MEGA after it was recovered by police “combing” the island of Symi, where the presenter was on holiday. The footage shows Dr Mosley shielding himself from the sun with an umbrella as he walks past.

Greek police say they are involved in a major search and rescue operation on Symi, the small island in the eastern Aegean. But despite their best efforts, they still haven’t located the British doctor. Police said on Friday that the coastguard, police and firefighters were involved in the search, with a helicopter, drones and a police sniffer dog. They found no trace of the 67-year-old man who had been on holiday on the island.

The search focused on the area between Agios Nikolaos, the coastal area where Dr Mosley apparently started his walk, and the island’s main town of Symi. Authorities also investigated whether he might have left the island entirely, but found no indication that anyone had traveled under his name.
