Bristol Pride 2024: The full line-up and over 40 events announced over two weeks

Bristol Pride marks its 15th anniversary this year and has announced its full line-up of events taking place between 29 June and 14 July. More than 40 events are scheduled over two weeks in the city, including much-loved Pride Day entertainment.

The award-winning LGBTQ+ festival will include theatre, music, boat trips, circus, comedy, talks, cinema and more. In addition, this year will also see the first ever Pride Ballroom event with the Bristol Ballroom Community – The Pioneers of Pride Kiki Ball will be one of the opening events for the 2024 festival on Saturday 29th June at St George’s Bristol.

How to get tickets

Bristol Pride Day remains the entry point for donations, ensuring it remains financially accessible for all who wish to attend Pride, however, supporters’ wristbands for this year’s festival are available online and are on sale from £9. Not only do they support the Pride event and help activate future events, they offer rewards including free bus travel all day on Pride Day via First Bus and dedicated Pride shuttle service to The Downs, 50p off bar prices at the festival, access fast dedicated to the festival and discounts or freebies with food merchants on site.

Bristol Pride Circus Night

Bristol Pride Circus Night will take place on Thursday 4th July at Circomedia. The event is described as “a magical fundraiser bringing amazing contemporary circus skills and performances from talented LGBT+ performers”.

Pride Dog Show

The Pride Dog Show returns to Castle Park on Saturday 6th July. Dubbed a fun and relaxed event, the canine companions will compete in rounds including ‘waggiest tail’ and ‘musical session’.

Theater events

A series of theater events will take place on different days of the festival. Wreckage, which runs at The Wardrobe Theater on July 9 and 10, is the winner of ‘The Lustram Award’ at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022.

The Wardrobe Theater will also play host to a week-long run of Murder, He Didn’t Write, a special Pride twist on Edinburgh Fringe’s hit improvisational crime mystery show, Murder, She Didn’t Write, from the Bristol Theater Company. Degrees of error.

Pride Comedy Night

One of the festival’s most popular events, Pride Comedy Night takes place on Thursday 11 July at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre. Hosted by Bristol comedian and TV star Jayde Adams, the line-up includes Chloe Petts, James Barr, Louise Davis and Celya AB. Tickets are available from £15 but are selling fast.

Queer Vision Film Festival

Queer Vision, Bristol Pride’s film festival, boasts an extraordinary line-up of screenings over two weeks at venues including the Watershed, The Cube and the former IMAX. A special 30th anniversary screening of Priscilla Queen of the Desert will take place on Saturday 6 July in the former Bristol Imax and includes a bus journey to the venue on the special Pride-branded First Bus service.

The film festival will present a diverse program of UK and international LGBT+ films on Sunday 7 July, including independent feature films, animation and award-winning shorts, including The South West Shorts programme. from South West LGBT+ filmmakers as part of the IRIS Award The best of Britain category which will see the winning selection enter the final with a chance to win a coveted prize of £30,000.

Pride Day

The culmination of the two weeks of events takes us to the Pride Day Festival on The Downs on Saturday 13 July, with organizers expecting over 40,000 people to this year’s festival.

To start the day, the March Parade will set off from Castle Park in the morning and see around 25,000 people marching for equality and diversity. The main festival will then open on The Downs at noon and will be headlined this year by The Human League.

Other acts in the line-up include the dance star Georgiathe legend of the 90s Rozalla, MantarayBrynsynthesizer tape CatBear, Basement Jaxx singer and resident of Ronnie Scott Vula Malinga, Sing Out BristolSwedish pop royalty Charlotte Perrelli and BBC Project Ikon winner Dylan and Luna. While Claire Richards From Steps also joins the festival this year alongside global icons and electro band Ladytron.

More than 200 artists will perform at the festival on five stages with their new Uplift Stage, Dance Performance Stage, Circus Tent and Cabaret Stage – which will be hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race star Heidi n Closet and Pixie Polite. The day also includes a family and youth zone, a community zone, Silent Disco and several bars and food stalls.

Official afterparty

The evening sees The Official Afterparty at Bristol’s O2 Academy as Pride takes over for three rooms of local and international DJs. It will be a title set by Confidence Man DJ with DTYMparty from the 90s and 00s One more time Bristol’s plus Jersey Devil and Macha Zu, who take over room one. There are also special performances by Alexa aerial hoop artist, Streetenvy Dance, drag go go dancers and more.
