Tesco and Morrisons urgently recall ‘do not eat’ chicken and chocolate warning

Tesco and Morrisons have issued urgent food recalls amid safety concerns. Morrisons says some of its cooked chicken may contain metal, while Tesco said some of its chocolate bars contain nuts that are not listed on the label.

The Food Standards Agency has published warnings advising shoppers what to do if they have bought one of the affected products. They said shoppers could receive a full refund for any affected food.

Morrisons is recalling its brand of wafer-thin cooked chicken. The FSA said: “Morrisons is again recalling Morrisons Wafer Thin Cooked Chicken as it may contain small pieces of metal. The possible presence of metal makes these products unsafe for consumption.”

It added: “If you have purchased the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.”

The affected chicken comes in a 170g or 400g package. Includes all expiration dates up to and including June 16, 2024.

The store said in the recall notice: “Please do not put this product down and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don’t need a receipt.

“No other products are affected by this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continued commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”

Meanwhile, Tesco is recalling a range of Tesco Multipack chocolate bars due to undeclared hazelnuts. The FSA said: “The products contain peanuts, which makes them a possible health risk for anyone with a peanut allergy.”
