Leeds release eleven players after play-off final loss as fans claim shock star ‘got 18 lives’

LEEDS have released 11 players after the agony of the Championship play-off final.

But some fans are amazed a 22-year-old with “18 lives” survived the slaughter.

Quarterback Cody Drameh is one of four men offered a new contract.

However, the Londoner has had limited playing time with the Whites – leading to loan spells at Cardiff, Luton and Birmingham.

One fan posted: “Cody Drameh took about 18 lives at Elland Road I see.”

Leeds released Charlie Allen, Luke Ayling, Lewis Bate, Keenan Carole, Stuart Dallas, Cuba Diboe, Scott Godden, Ian Poveda, Morten Spencer, Harvey Sutcliffe and Dani van den Heuvel.

Along with Drameh, Harry Christy, Joseph Snowdon and Luca Thomas received a new offer.

Boss Daniel Farke is eyeing a turnaround following his near-miss promotion.

The former Norwich boss guided the Whites to third place – six points off an automatic, instant return to the Premier League.

Leeds then lost the play-off final 1-0 to Southampton two weeks ago.

Farke’s 20-man squad from Wembley that day could all remain at Elland Road – with one possible major exception.

Star player Crysencio Summerville has reportedly been followed by Liverpool and Chelsea.

West Ham, Fulham and Bournemouth are also said to be interested in the 22-year-old Dutchman – valued at £35-40m.

As well as Drameh, Leeds fans also appear divided over whether to retain versatile 24-year-old Jamie Shackleton.

The Yorkshireman has been at Elland Road since 2018, with a loan spell at Millwall two seasons ago.

But one fan posted: “We will never be a serious club while we are in contract negotiations with Jamie Shackleton.”

There were even question marks over the retention of club leader Liam Cooper, 32, who has been a popular stalwart since joining from Chesterfield in 2014.

One supporter wrote on X: “Liam Cooper and Shackleton should be let go. Cooper finished even at that level according to Millwall’s performance. Shackleton never reaches the first 11”.

The two players in question were substitutes who did not play at Wembley last month.
