Liverpool have sent concerns to FSG Premier League as they ‘received’ a summer transfer boost

Liverpool will not only be preparing for a new era under Arne Slot, but also a big summer transfer window at Anfield.

Last season’s drop in the Premier League title race will be a disappointment to many, especially considering it was Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge. So it would be understandable if Slot would want to prioritize new signings.

However, in our final look at this weekend’s media headlines, it appears there are some issues with FSG’s boardroom aspirations that Liverpool need to beware of.

Liverpool’s FSG concern

Speaking to the Financial Times this week, chairman Tom Werner insisted his aim was to one day bring a Premier League game to the United States. “I am determined that one day there will be a Premier League game in New York City,” he said.

“I even have this crazy idea that there will be a day when we play a game in Tokyo, a game a few hours later in Los Angeles, a game a few hours later in Rio, a game a few hours later in Riyadh. and make it a kind of day where football, where the Premier League, is celebrated.”

What the ECHO says: Werner is right about one thing here – it’s a crazy idea. It has long been established that American sports culture and British sports culture are two completely different entities. Across the pond, it seems only natural that the season’s regular set-up takes place across the pond. Football fans have already had to compromise on the pre-season played around the world, but competitive matches would inspire an uproar among fans of all clubs. The Liverpool owner’s comments seem out of line with what English fans believe, especially as the real purpose of this initiative is more likely to be financial benefit rather than spreading the brand that is the Premier League.
