Leeds United centre-back Pascal Struijk has been linked with other players who could be sold this summer by the club, but Daniel Farke will not let that happen.

Leeds face another uncertain summer as things stand after missing out on promotion back to the Premier League.

Players could leave for big sums and it is up to the 49ers to ensure other key figures for Daniel Farke’s promotion are kept at Elland Road.

Pascal Struijk has been linked with an exit from Leeds United

It was reported at the end of May that Pascal Struijk is one of the players Leeds could end up showing an interest in this summer.

Football Insider claimed the 24-year-old is likely to be of interest in the summer transfer window, along with a number of players from the squad.

Struijk did not play for Leeds on Boxing Day due to an adductor injury that required his second operation of the season after dealing with a hernia earlier in the season.

Will Leeds be promoted next season?

Daniel Farke has already said why Leeds won’t sell Struijk

There are very obvious reasons why Leeds cannot afford to lose Struijk this summer, given that he is our best centre-back and we have no depth.

Liam Cooper is set to leave the club when his contract expires, Joe Rodon is unlikely to return, which leaves Struijk as the only real option alongside Ethan Ampadu and Charlie Cresswell – one of whom is better in midfield and the other not in Farke’s Good Books it seems.

The manager has already made it clear that Struijk will not be sold if he has any say in the matter, stating this when he was looking to recover in March (via YEP):

I feel a bit crazy that we haven’t talked about him in the last two months, and thank God we didn’t have to because our defensive behavior was spot on.

“He is a cornerstone for our future.”

Farke’s statement makes it abundantly clear to the 49ers that one player they cannot let go at any cost this summer is the quarterback who plays the ball.
